Communication cards — when speaking is hard

For stroke, a tracheostomy, a ventilator, or the early days after a spinal injury — when talking is difficult or impossible, tap a card and your phone or tablet speaks it out loud. Works once the page has loaded, even with patchy internet. You can add your own cards too.

⏱️ 2 min to set up

Tap any card below — it will be spoken aloud, so your family or care team can hear what you need without you having to talk. Add your own cards for anything specific to your situation. Everything here is saved only in this browser, on this device — nothing is sent anywhere.

How to use this

1

Hand over the device
Give the phone or tablet to the person who needs to communicate, propped where they can reach it.

2

Tap to speak
Tapping any card speaks the phrase out loud through the device's speaker.

3

Add what's missing
Use “+ Add your own card” for anything specific — a name, a food, a worry — it stays on this device only.

This is a communication aid, not a medical device. It does not replace a formal speech-and-language therapy assessment, and speech output quality depends on the browser and device. If speech or swallowing difficulty is new or worsening, mention it to the treating team — that can be an early, important sign worth checking.
